A new dealer for the Checker Berry Shoppe is filling the niche for handcrafted, original 'face pottery'. She also makes smaller items such as bowl, plates, spoon rests, and more!

Great Day

Thanks to everyone who came out for another great Founder's Day. Despite the heat, lots of folks visited Bowdon for the celebration. Hope you got to see the fireworks, they were spectacular.

Another thanks to all those who dropped by the shop. We saw lots of familiar faces and lots of new ones. Many dealers had special weekend sales and our customers took advantage of it.

Founders Day

Bowdon was founded in 1853 and on Saturday, August 1, Bowdon is celebrating Founders Day with lots of fun activities.

The 29th Annual Founders Day Run begins at 8 am, and the Fun Run starts at 8:45. Proceeds benefit the Spinal Cord Society. The parade is always a hit with children and adults. Come early and bring a chair to get a good spot, the parade starts at 10 am. Afterwards, enjoy live music at the pavilion with lots of craft vendors and games for the kids. Also come hungry, there will be a wide variety of food vendors. Other activities throughout the day include Historical Museum Tours, Bluegrass and Gospel Music, the Watusi Rodeo Band and more, topped of with fireworks at 10pm.

Drop by Checker Berry, enjoy some refreshments, and check out our special weekend sale items.

Hello and welcome to the new blog for The Checker Berry Shoppe in Bowdon, Georgia. We are a large antique store in downtown Bowdon. In addition to antiques, we also offer gifts and handcrafted items including candles, locally made goats milk soap, quilts, birdhouses, pottery, cement garden decor and ceramics.
